Why can't I veiw the PDF articles?
- Check
that you have the Acrobat Reader® installed
in your system:
- On
Windows systems, follow the path Start -> Settings
-> Control Panel, choose Add/Remove Programs and
look for Adobe Acrobat Reader in the listing.
If you do not find it, please
Click
here to download Free Acrobat Reader before
proceeding.
- Some
articles are large and may take time to download.
- To
speed up subsequent downloads of pdf files, keep Reader open,
minimized on task bar.
What is Acrobat?
- Acrobat
Reader® is software that allows you to read documents
saved in the Acrobat [.pdf] format.
Why are you using Acrobat instead of html?
- There
are times when the Acrobat format works better than html
(the usual format for Web pages). We frequently create Acrobat
documents from work that has been printed. This allows users
to see and print the document as it appeared in the original
version (including fonts that they may not own and with the
formatting exactly as it was in the printed piece).
How does it work ?
- Once
the Adobe Acrobat® Reader software is installed on your computer,
you simply start the reader program and then open the PDF
file just like you would in any other software like your
word processor. The document will open to the first page.
From here you can turn each page, just like a book, or you
can jump to any page directly. The view can be adjusted to
zoom in or out for a closer or broad view of the page. When
you are done viewing the document, you simply close the file
and exit the software.
I'm having trouble printing a Acrobat file, what
can I do?
- There
have been reports from Windows users with Internet Explorer
that they have had trouble printing some large PDF files.
If
that is the case, we suggest that you go to the page and:
- Right
Click on the link to the PDF
- Choose "Save
Link as..." from the pop up menu (or "Save Target as...")
- Save
the PDF to your hard drive (remember where you are saving
it and the name of the file)
- When
the download is complete, use MyComputer to go that downloaded
file
- Double
Click the file
(This should open the file with Acrobat Reader, instead of using the
Acrobat plug-in in Internet Explorer.)
- Print
the file
